The moment we've all been waiting for is here! The 2025 9-Ball World Qualifier kicks off this weekend at QBall, where Jacksonville's finest will battle for a coveted spot at the APA World Pool Championships in Las Vegas.

Whether you’re playing or just coming to support your crew, here’s everything you need to know before we kick things off.

For your convenience, but don't skip the good stuff below.

Important Reminders

We’re here to have an unforgettable weekend — but let’s be real: if your team wants to go to Vegas, you need to handle business on and off the table. Here’s what that means:

The 50% Rule Matters

Teams must have finished in the top half of their division after qualifying to stay eligible. Didn’t? You’re still playing, but know that handicap reviews are in full effect.

Skill Levels Must Be Accurate

Players must compete at their highest skill level since qualifying — not just what’s listed right now. Tournament starting skill levels will be updated again before the weekend, so double-check your roster and know where your team stands.

Observers Will Be On-Site

Skill levels can change during the event. We’ll have Observers watching matches and assisting with evaluations. If you see a “W” next to a player’s name on the scoresheet, that match will be watched. Play fair, play smart, and keep score appropriately.

Every Player Signs the Certification Statement

You’ll sign before you shoot. This confirms your skill level is accurate and your team is legit. If you think a player may be under-ranked, this is your chance to fix that without penalty. Learn more about the Team Certification Statement.

Scorekeeping Isn’t Optional

Scorekeeping matters — a lot. It helps ensure fair play and protects your team. If you’re not sure how to fill out a scoresheet correctly, we’re here to help! Just ask at the Control Table. Intentional errors or sloppy scorekeeping can lead to serious consequences, including disqualification — so let’s get it right together. Watch this video to learn how to keep score on paper in 9-ball.

Team Fees Must Be Paid

All team fees must be paid in full before your first match. If your team has an outstanding balance, you will not be allowed to play until it's resolved. Need to check your balance or make a payment? Contact us before Saturday so we can keep things running smoothly. Let’s avoid any hold-ups at the Control Table.

Tournament Rules

This tournament qualifies teams for the World Pool Championships and as such, the APA National Office sets the rules governing this event. All teams and players are expected to know and adhere to the rules outlined in this document.

QUALIFIED TEAMS

Qualified teams should review THIS INFORMATION to ensure they maintain their eligibility.

Event Information: The World Qualifier is an annual tournament that takes place at the end of the League year. The winning teams at the World Qualifier receive travel assistance to Las Vegas and the opportunity to represent Jacksonville APA Pool League in the APA World Pool Championships.

Eligibility: Teams gain eligibility for the World Qualifier event by winning at a Tri-Annual or Best of the Rest Tournament. To participate in the World Qualifier, players must have four matches within the regular session with their team to be eligible to play and a minimum of 10 lifetime match scores by the end of the spring session. Matches played during session Playoffs and Tri-Annual count as spring session matches toward the lifetime match requirement.

Teams can gain eligibility for the World Qualifier in any League session but must remain active in all subsequent sessions of the League year to maintain their qualification status. Additional requirements for maintaining qualification are outlined in the Official Team Manual. It is the responsibility of the Team Captain to ensure teams follow these guidelines or qualification can be lost. The number of teams qualifying is dependent on the number of teams in a given format (8-Ball or 9-Ball) in the Jacksonville APA Pool League.

Advancing to the APA World Pool Championship: The number of teams advancing to the APA World Pool Championship from the Jacksonville APA World Qualifiers is determined by the total number of teams in a given format (8-Ball or 9-Ball) in the Jacksonville APA Pool League area.
